Diana Hanitzsch is a German-Canadian artist based in Vancouver, BC on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlil̓wətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) people. She holds a BFA (2019) in painting and sculpture from Emily Carr University and has exhibited in Canada, Germany and the Czech Republic. Her practice is concerned with tracing psychological processes and relationships focusing on power dynamics, perception and the concept of weight. Apart from self-exploration in different environments, she witnesses shapes and forms in everyday spaces and the gallery context and circles around the mediums of sculpture, installation, drawing, painting and animation.
